Halfiversary Celebration!

This last weekend we celebrate our 6 month anniversary of being married, otherwise known as a halfiversary. I found a good deal on a little Inn up in Aspen, so we headed there for the weekend. On the way we had the pleasure of driving through Breckenridge and Vail. Check out these pics of some of the coolest places in Colorado! We left at about 6 am, so we got to see some of the sunrise.

Breckenridge

 Vail

We took a ride on a gondola up the mountain!

Cool building/restaurant on top of the mountain for skiers.

Reminded me of Grandma Barb : )

 Snowboarding/Skiing museum.
 Aspen
The women's world championship "Winternational" skiing competition was held in Aspen over the weekend, so there was a lot of cool free events and activities!

The courtyard at the Annabelle Inn : )

They shot fireworks off in the mountain at night, we sat and watched them from the hot tub in the bottom corner of this picture.

Free concert! We didn't go. It was a band we didn't know. But still cool.

Allison was very excited to see a moose crossing sign : )

That's all for now!

a trip to Westcliffe, CO.

We decided to make a trip to Westcliffe, which is about 2 hours from Colorado Springs. We know that Allison's Uncle and Aunt are planning to move to Westcliffe, so this post is dedicated to Todd and Angie! Hope to see you guys out here soon!

One of the guys I work with used to live in this area, and told us we had to go up that road up into the mountains. We found a beautiful area and set up a camp for the day. The roads were not made for small cars, but the Murano did great!

There was actually snow right next to the place we thought about camping. But at about 4:00pm it was only about 30 degrees with a good breeze, so we decided to not set up the tent and just stay until it got dark.

I saw the most beautiful brook trout in the stream, this is a picture from the internet. I didn't have time to grab my camera.

All in all we really enjoyed Westcliffe! We ate lunch at a fun pizza place called R's, and it was delicious. We can't wait to have another reason to visit!

Preping for Halloween

In the spirit of the season, we decided to carve the pumpkins we got last weekend at the pumpkin patch in Pueblo. What do you think?

Pueblo, CO. A surprisingly great town.

This weekend we took a trip down to Pueblo, CO. Which is a smaller town about 45 minutes south of Colorado Springs. We found out that they had a pretty cool corn maze, and naturally we had to stop in at the Pueblo Zoo while we were there. We also had our first Golden Corral experience, and it was fantastic. Endless amounts of delicious food, great service, a chocolate fountain, and cotton candy to-go.

                                                    Lynx or Bobcat?

This animal could have been at the kissing game board at our wedding, anybody know what it is?

I discovered two things things weekend:
a) Allison has a special bond with squirrel monkeys
b) Corn mazes are actually kind of hard if you don't cheat. Especially in 87 degree heat.

We decided to make the most of our gas money down, and stay the night at Pueblo Reservoir State Park. Aside from the guy next to us running his loud generator for a good portion of the night, and the guys on the other side of us playing loud rap music until about 3:00am, it was a very enjoyable time. We decided to get up early and go for a walk, which was definitely a highlight. Some of the best skipping rocks I've ever seen, and some pretty good views too.

This is what makes Colorado "lakes." Otherwise known as Reservoirs.
That's all for now folks! Future adventures to follow : )
